CyanStrawberry Light, easy and fun. The album blub suggest this and the music certainly feels like it, but New Me really does feel like an artist turning a leaf and I really like it. Plus, as a pianist providing sheet music is S+ work, amazing! Favorite track: Blues variations.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) On this album, piano virtuoso Kimiko Ishizaka breaks free from the confines of classical music and the performance of baroque masterpieces written by Johann Sebastian Bach, and proves that she's got a great jazz groove in her own compositions. At the same time, she doesn't deny where she's coming from, by throwing in some nice baroque spice into the music. Sheet music of all pieces is included in PDF format, stating the harmony-theoretical constraints used on the respective tracks as well. Favorite track: Expectation.
Oynque

Oynque A fine collection of piano miniatures that reminds me of Gershwin spiced up with a bit of Bach now and again. Very nice especially at night. Favorite track: New me.

Beautiful Bridge

In the past, between our hearts
there used to be a bridge.
Sadness could not last
because no broken heart stayed alone.

Oh, beautiful bridge, you seemed so strong,
how did we miss where things went wrong?
Now I'm looking straight into your eyes,
and my arms are reaching for your face.
My darling love, I can just not get to your side.

In the past, between our hearts
there used to be a bridge.
No distress could last
because our love took it away.

Please find me again across this bridge!

There is no chance I could explain
how much in vain my life would be,
if the way across the bridge
were forever closed.

Please, sweetest love, send back your heart
across this bridge.

New Me! is a collection of solo pieces composed and performed by Kimiko Ishizaka. The pieces exist in a world somewhere between Bach and Bill Evans, and express feelings of hope, joy, heartbreak, and loss. These new sounds represent the total transformation of Kimiko Ishizaka as an artist, making New Me! her most intimate and personal album yet.
